Making his first appearance in 2012, Haniwa-kun is a living haniwa. Specifically, he is based on a warrior figure found in Ota, Gunma Prefecture, believed to be from ca. the 6th century. Equipped with the power to make dancing haniwas out of soil he digs up in order to entertain people when they are feeling down, he also has an arsenal of haniwa-based wordplay, such as βHaniwow!"
