天王寺獅童
aka Doujikiri Yasutsuna
__Height:__ 188 cm A high school *yokozuna*, he bears the nickname of the National Treasure sword "Doujikiri Yasutsuna" and stands as one of the strongest rivals in the story's first arc. He is the wrestler whom Hinomaru Ushio, looks up to. He has been a driving force in the world of amateur sumo nationwide—and, to some extent, even within the professional realm. It is no exaggeration to say that while the seeds sown by Yamato-kuni were nurtured by wrestlers like Hakuou and others, it was Tennoji and his peers who provided the essential support to sustain that growth. However, his strength is not merely a product of natural talent; it is underpinned by his own hard work and sincerity. He is an avid sumo enthusiast—self-described as a "sumo geek"—and a data-driven strategist of extraordinary intensity; he thoroughly analyzes every wrestler who might conceivably face him, considering everything from their growth trajectory and abilities to various match scenarios in order to devise countermeasures. (He seems to believe nothing is impossible for him, and the fact that he actually manages to pull it off is staggering.) This approach underpins his "sumo that refuses to lose"—a style dedicated to defending his titles as both High School Yokozuna and Amateur Yokozuna. Even his younger sister, Saki, remarks that while his opponents may display perfect sumo technique, her brother's obsession with the sport is on another level entirely. At the same time, he is adept at "sumo that goes for the win"—characterized by a relentless, surging offensive—a style he employed when challenging for those titles; he switches fluidly between these two modes of combat. Furthermore, he tailors his mental simulations to the specific caliber of his opponent, ensuring he is prepared for their level of skill—even if he acknowledges that his worst-case scenarios often turn out to be groundless worries. He also possesses remarkable schedule management skills, balancing his training with social obligations like nightlife and entertaining his *tachimachi* (patrons). Moreover—as is true for the other characters—his personality is exemplary, defined by sincerity, gentlemanly conduct, and humility. He is a constant learner who instantly reflects on himself whenever something defies his predictions. Even when he is shaken (or briefly succumbs to a dark state of mind), he quickly regains his composure.
